Children and Youth Classes
Year to year the classes we offer for the 5-18 year old children varies from dance classes to cooking to puppet making to crafts to music and more, these are just a sampling of the variety of classes. The children will be broken into various age groups and will rotate through three classes during the morning.
Each class is led by one of our folk camp staff members and the age groups are chaperoned by an adult staff member.
Our childcare for the 4 and younger crowd is led by Kelly Kirkpatrick who is a career preschool director. Bannerman family adults and adult scholarship workers assist her. Kelly plans a wonderful morning for these little ones so that all ages from infant thru 4 year olds are fully engaged. The childcare program includes crafts, nature walks, visits to the playground and free play in childcare room.
Evening childcare is available to all families staying on campus for the weekend during the evening youth/adult dance parties. Once the child(ren) are settled in bed and the parent(s) stop by the childcare monitoring station to sign out with our 2 staff members. Those staff will be monitoring the halls and will alert parents if there is a problem. When the parents return they sign back in to let us know they are back!
Adult Dance Classes
On both Friday and Saturday mornings the adults have the chance to learn from our dance leaders.
Bob Dalsemer will be teaching American Squares and Contra dancing. He is a master at getting all levels of dancers on the floor and moving with ease.
Marcie Van Cleave comes to camp with so many fun international folk dances! She will have you dancing and enjoying each other before you know it!
Jeff O'Connor is our evening dance party coordinator and will be putting together each night's program. He works with Bob and Marcie to keep us all dancing late into the night!
